The following was given to Janalee Garn by Myrna Ritchey Lether, 4/2002: WILKLK: Iantha Baker wrote"Clarification of Name of Wife of Immigrant Ancestor Adam Ritchey", dated Aug. 10, 1970. She evidently had a photocopy oof the "Inventory of the Estate of AGNESS RITCHEY, deceased, the widow of Adam Ritchey, late of Middleton Township". The document was evidently in the handwriting of Edward O'Hail, son-in-law of Adam Ritchey and Executor of his esstate and of the widow's estate. The inventory mentions "cloth material, etc., claimed by "her daughter Jane". It mentions "The Rent of Her Real Estate during her widowhood Viz from the 10th September 1804 to the wnd of September 1806, bequeathed to her by her husband in his Last Will & Testament". "Also Fifty pounds out of her husband's Real Estate Bequeathed to her by her husband in the said Will?. This is on file in the courthouse in Carlisle, PA. Theodore Wuerts committed suicide. Date of death may not be correct. Per 1900 census, they lived at 505 N. Jackson St., Belleville. Christina Letter lived with them. There is a marriage record for TheodoreWUERTZ and Margaret THEISEN, 24 April, 1894, rec. Vol,8, pg. 18, Lic # 1834 There is a marriage record in the ISMIndex, showing a marriage between Anna Catherine WUERTZ and Nicolas ANDRES, in 1880 (see file). She is too old to be the child of Theodore and Christina --- maybe a sister. Also, Agnes WUERTZ and Henry SIEMENS. These two marriages took place in Monroe Co --- perhaps Theodore was from there. Also, a marriage is recorded between Theodore Wuertz and margaret Theisen, in Monroe Co., on 24 April, 1894. 2880 Census, IL, Stl Clair Co., Village of West Bellevile, SD, pg. 25, SD 7; ED 45, stamped page 314 A, lines 10-15. Do not have parental info (was on preceeding page and at time I didn't know it would be useful). Theodore Wuertz's obituary, Belleville IL, Daily Advocate USED A REVOLVER THEODORE WUERTZ, PRIVATE WATCHMAN, SNUFFS OUT HIS OWN LIFE WITH A BULLET! No Reason can be Assigned As to Why the Man Wanted to Die -- Death Instantaneous Seated on a box in the woodshed at his home, 910 Jefferson Avenue Thursday evening about 6 o'clock, Theodore Wuertz, a private watchman, employed at the Queen City Range company's plant, killed himself with a 32-calibre revolver. The shot attracted the attention of his wife, Christina, who rushed to the shed, ony to dicover the lifeless body of her husband, sitting on the box where the deed had been committed. In his right hand was the still smoking revolver, and from his head there was ppouring fourth a stream of blood. The horrible sight unnerved Mrs. Wuertz and the terrified scream she gave attracted the other members of the family, and some of the neighbors, who hurried to the scene of the tragedy. From all appearances, death must have been instantaneous. There was no communication about the clothing of the deceased to indicate why he committed the deed, and no cause can be assigned by the family. He had been in his usual good health, and as far as is (next line illegible) known, had never threatened to take his own life. He had worked around the house during the afternoon, doing little odd jobs, and assisted his wife with the housework. Non of his actions or anything said indicated that he was all that time contemplating ending his life. Just before 6 o'clock he started to his work. When he left the ouse, he went directly to the woodshed, but nothing was thought of this, as he frequently left that way. A moment later when the report of the revolver was heard, the fmaily was more than startled and hastened to investigate from whence the report emanated. Investigationrevealed the dead body of the husband and father. Deceased was about 60 years of age and is survived by his wife and several children. He was the father of Officer John Wuertz, one of the new officers on the local police force. An inquiry was held this morning, the jury returning a verdict in accordance with the above facts. The funeral arrangements have not been completed. 1800 Census; Belleville, St. Clair Co., IL p. 25. SD. 7; ED 45, Stamped 314A Wuertz, T. H. w; m; 34; coal miner; b. I do not have a mary as a child of Theodore and Christina, although almost any of the girls could have Mary as a first name. But perhaps she is Theodore's sister????? This material comes from Marcia Smith Clark: Smith-Clark Connections, on rootweb.com. She herself has questions about it. Peter S. Kolb was a Mennonite Bishop. He was active in helping Mennonite refugees in Holland and the Pfalz to escape to William Penn's Woods (now PA), as part of Penn's Holy Experiment, where Mennonites and other Plain religions could live and practic their religioun in peace and safety. Apparently, Peter S Kolb lived in Skipjack, Montgomery Co., PA between 1707 and 1734. However, he died and is buried in germany. Did he return? This may or may not be the correct family for Leopold. However, I do not think that the marriage date of 11 July, 1813 would be correct. Or perhaps the birth date is wrong. Also, Petrus's wife is given as Sophia Thome; Leo gives his Mother's name, on all three of his Belleville licenses , as Magdalena Fallert'Folert. Leo did name three of his children Margaretha, Willie and Bertha; not solid evidence this is his family, but suggestive. Info from Billie Compton, no source given. A website Posting to Rootsweb.com by David and Jenny Myers, Trost 1801-1900, to AUS-QLD-SE-Germans-L-Archives, shows a marriage between Trost, Peter and Magdalena Fallert in Kappelrodeck, Baden in 1811. This would make Leopold born 22 years into the marriage, and william born even later. Found another marriage record for Peter Trost and Magdalena Fallert. Marriage date given is 1811. Place Baden, Baden, Kappelrodeck. Info from rootsweb.com. Aus-Qld-Se Germans-L Archives. From David and jenny Myers, subject Trost 1801-1900. Appears to be a listing of all Trost marriages in this area of Germany. However, there is no record for Leopold and Amalia Sontag. If this marriage date is correct, then that makes it doubtful that Peter/Petrus was born in 1799 | TROST, Peter (I30124596460)

It is located in a thicket surrounded by a farm field and just south of a pond, about 400 yds west of Mountain Rd (Rt 1515) and about 200 yds North of Slaughter Pen Rd. (rt 1518) The thicket is only about 1/10 of an acre ain total, but requires a bit of "bushwacking" to enter. It was clearly left "unfarmed" on purpose. Our exploration uncovered about a dozen or so gravestones, most of which were small. None of the stones have markings that can be read. One son, Gideon Jr., is buried about 2 mi away, just east of another pond and in the woods just past a clearing, about 1/4 mi northeasst of the intersection of Obrien & Chewing Rds. There is a small gated dirt roapath that begns at Chewing and leads past the gravesite.......... Both these are on private property -- so ask before you visit. | CREWS, Gideon (I30124597105)
